| NPR-HD Advantages Over Nissan UD 1400 |
|
 |
 |
 |
|
Nissan UD 1400:
- Nissan UD sells a full line of low cab forward trucks covering the same weight categories and customer needs as Isuzu, but without critical Isuzu features
- 1400 is 14,250 lb. GVWR competing against NPR
- No gas engine available in any UD
- 29.5 in. frame rail width
- No crew cab option available on any UD
|
NPR Advantages:
- Available gas engine has 75% more power than UD's Hino-sourced diesel and offers lower initial cost and lighter weight for greater payload (gas engine not available on UD)
- 6-speed automatic transmission on Isuzu has additional ratios for improved performance and fuel economy, compared with UD's 4-speed automatic
- Standard width frame on Isuzu facilitates body installation. Non-standard 29.5-inch frame width on UD may limit body installation
- More available wheelbase choices (4 vs. 3 for UD) to meet customer needs
- Longer available wheelbase (176.0 in. vs. 149.4 in. on UD) with longer available CA allows NPR-HD to carry longer 20-foot bodies
- Higher torque output (441 lb.-ft. vs. 376 lb.-ft.) improves load carrying and towing performance
- Higher horsepower output (205 hp vs. 175 hp) helps get work done faster
- Tighter turning diameter (curb-to-curb) for comparable cab-to-axle (33.5 ft./109.0 in. WB vs. 34.8 ft./108.8 in. WB) improves maneuverability
- Higher front-axle capacity (6830 lb. vs. 6,170 lb.) contributes to long-term durability
- Standard air restriction gauge simplifies service. Not available on UD
- Higher rear-axle capacity contributes to durability in commercial operation (14,500 lb. vs. 11,500 lb.)
- Taperleaf front springs contribute to ride quality and durability (multileafs used on UD)
- Wider door opening for easy entry and exit (85 degree vs. 80 degree)
- Higher level of standard equipment with cruise control and air filter restriction gauge. These are not available on UD
- Better front bumper protection, with more than twice the distance from the cab provided on the NPR-HD
- Greater cab interior room, with 4 inches greater width for crew
- Entry steps on Isuzu are covered for protection from the weather. UD's smaller steps are exposed to ice and mud
- Greater visibility from Isuzu's larger windows. Windshield is 2,160 sq. in. vs. UD's 1,900 sq. in.
- All-season front and rear radial tires provide optimum mix of traction and mileage (highway front and traction-rear radials on FE)
